EGR restrictor plate
I have a 1981 F-150 300 I-6 4x4. It bucks like crazy after about 3 minuites at 55 and will buck in every gear after that. I have taken off the vacuum line and plugged it, and put on a restrictor plate with about a 1/4 inch hole. Should it be smaller or what? I have tried several sizes, but this is the smallest. Would blocking the valve completely help? It is carbuerated so I have no codes to clear. Can anyone help? Please, this problem is getting very annoying. I cannot even make a quick run to the store without the bucking.

I found the problem. After tearing half the engine apart, trying different size restrictor plates, idle settings, plug gap, and having two professional mechanics say it was the EGR valve, I put a new set of plugs and wires and the bucking was gone. Which just says, don't jump to conclusions.
