steering question

I get a clunk that I can hear and feel when turning hard right. The drag link rotated some when I twisted it by hand, but I haven't jacked up front yet. When is this link too loose? What else shuld I be checking when front is put up off ground. (48 F-1)

steering question

Hi TP,

Get yourself a shop manual for your year truck. There is a section explaining how to adjust the drag link. It also has a ton of information about things you need to know to really keep your truck in shape. Click on the PARTS SHOP button in the upper right of your screen. It will take you to MotorHaven, the parts supplier that helps support the FTE forums. They have the shop manuals in both book and CD formats, I believe. It will be the best money you spend on your truck.

Things that go "clunk"(or very well could) in an F1 Front end

Wheel Bearings
Spring Shackles
Broken Spring
Drag Link
Left Steering Arm to Drag Link Ball
Pitman Arm to Drag Link Ball
Steering Box
Cracked Frame

As George said, start with a good Shop Manual
