Picked up a 2002 F-350 with a 7.3L Powerstroke Diesel. It's a salvage vehicle so it has a few donner parts. It runs good and everything appears work, but there are issues that I need to address. One of the components that was replaced was the bed. The bed on the truck now came from a 2012 Flex/fuel truck (badge still on tailgate). There is little doubt in my mind that the filler pipe and fuel cap are from the flex/fuel truck. Is this likely to be a problem with a diesel fuel system?I think I may name this truck "Frank", as in Frankenstein.
The filler pipe may have a restrictor that won't allow a diesel nozzle to fit. Other than that as long as you have the diesel fuel tank you will probably be Okay.
The filler opening should fit the "normal" diesel pumps just fine. It should not fit the high flow nozzles you find at the truck stops. If you don't fill at truck stops, or can maneuver to the "car" side where the normal pumps are, you should be just fine. I'd put a green cap on , though, so the yellow doesn't prompt someone to accidentally put E85 in it.
You could probably find the filler neck portion of a bed in a junkyard and swap it out. And the read badge that calls out E85 too.
I'll have to find a green cap that fits. The current one is black. The flex fuel badge on the tailgate also will need to be removed as noted. Finding a filler neck at the junk yard could be fun a 2002 likely won't just bolt in and a 2012 neck might not be worth the effort if what is in place works.

I just bought a new cap for my 99 at the local parts store it is black. They could order green but black was in stock. I see no problem with what you have.
