Ok to start off I have a 1989 F150 with a 302 engine. My problem started about a month ago when my fuel pump went bad and I replaced it, as soon as i was done i started it up and it was fine. After driving the truck a little bit my check engine light popped on and my truck start acting funny and it started popping up a ton of codes several people said my computer was going bad so I pulled one off and old f150 and now I only get code 67.i started to drive it around a bit more and I came to a stop and my tachometer started going crazy when I tried to take off, the truck died and would not start. After some digging around found out it was the ignition module went bad, I replaced it and now the truck starts up but after 15-20 mins the truck starts to act like it's not getting enough gas and dies. I've replaced my fuel pressure regulator, my fuel pump relay, and fuel filter. But no matter what it's still doing the same thing. I'm at a point where I have no idea where to go next with it.
Initially the dying part made me think of a bad BAP sensor, but all the other symptoms don't seem to indicate one of those.
I don't know where Ford mounted them on the '89, but when they put them up high on the cowl right under the drip line from the hood, they really started taking a moisture beating and are a common failure point.
Not sure how to check it though, and don't like recommending just throwing parts at a problem (especially expensive ones!) but keep that in the back of your mind as you're testing things.
And as we've found out many times over the recent years, a part being "new" does not mean it's good. So you can't 100% rule out the new fuel pump either.
Obviously a bad fuel pump is not going to effect the tachometer, but I wonder if you now have more than one issue making your diagnosing harder than it should be.
Anyway, good luck with the hunt. And welcome to the forum too!
