Ok, something is not right here. I am looking at the diagram for the 2001 Ford Excursion, and there is no red wire going to the alternator plug. It shows only a yellow/white, the white/black jumper wire, and the lightgreen/red wire. Peel back that wiring loom and see if the wire colors look different up in the harness.

I went back a little and no change it is green/red and the harness looks like it is stock and not been into. The new plug I bought is yellow/white. I did read where there was a harness recall for the 01 at some point. I don't know if there was a change in it or what. I have power on the green when the key is on. I have 12v at the red/green which is normally yellow at all times. The middle jumper wire is where I have nothing or the .007v
Is that a typo above? You should have 12v at all times, engine off, key off, or engine running on the yellow sensing wire. You should not have 12v on the green/red wire with the key off. Key on engine off, yes, key on engine running, yes.
I'm sorry that was a typo. I didn't see what I put. The green/red wire only has 12v when the key is on. It has nothing when the key is off. The red/green wire which you say should normally be white/yellow has 12v at all times. The white/yellow jumper wire I doesn't have voltage at any time I've tried it. I don't know what OI wa sdoing when I typed those up.
My mechanic finally got back with me. He's been busy and I'm tired of spinning my wheels on this thing. At this point I feel like my alternator is bad. Hopefully I can get it to him today and have it back by the end of the week. I do appreciate all the help and will try to report back with the findings.
Just wanted to give the thread the update with the fix.The fuse link was bad for the red/green wire which Franklin said should have been yellow/white. My mechanic said it was setting off his test light but the voltage on it was only around 4v. It must have dropped because I know I was getting the same voltage on that wire as I was at the battery.
