I have a 1948 F1 with Mustang II front end, 383 stroker and TH 350 transmission. Does anyone have a similar weight setup and can share information as to the spring rate you're using? I have a tire rubbing fender issue and need about an inch more of clearance over 235/60/15 tires. Currently running 325 spring rate that are 9" compressed height.
I went through that. I have a 52 F1 with a 351W and a C6 trans. The MII springs that came with the kit had been shortened by a coil when compared to the new springs. I put in new springs....I went to Napa and picked the stock set for a small-block V8 Mustang. The setup is a Fatman Fabrications kit. Their website has a downloadable catalog. They recommended Napa p/n 277-3038 for small block equipped pickups.
That was great right away, but it settled in an inch with a little driving. I ended up finding some spring spacers at Summit. That added the inch back. It's been good for a couple of years now!
Hey Tak,
I second Dan's spring spacer recommendation. We put one in our '50 F1 so we could get around while
breaking everything in.. they work fine no issues. We ended up going with smaller front tires to get past the rubbing issue.
