I almost hate to ask this question b/c it's probably been discussed ad nauseam but I have over the years put on three sets of Firestone TransForce tires 235/85/16, OEM equipment. I like the height but they seem a little skinny, Also I don't feel they are that comfortable going down the road and they are older technology. 245/75/16 aren't much wider and they give up an inch in height. My truck is a 2 when drive and does not go off road. I want to stick with a 10ply. Should I stick with the OEM size and go another brand or is it time to go to 18eens with a wider rim. TIA
I put 245/75R16s on the dually. Fit perfect. Speedo basically the same. This is still on the steel wheels. 245 on my spare too, that is a Hankook I think and other six are Bridgestones.
Best part? TONS of choices as this was the OE size when GM came out with their 2500HD back in 2001.
Discount Tire has a huge sale coming for Memorial Day weekend. Buy then! Usually $100 off set of four 'best' quality. $60-100 mail in from various manufacturers. And $60 more if you use their in-store credit...yah another card but 0% for 6-12 months. Just keep up with the payments.
Plus easy to find spare if you travel. No waiting for a goofy size in the mail.
The 99 threw 03 trucks used 265/75/16 tires. They are the same height but have a wider tread. They will fit on your wheels, as the NBS trucks used the same width wheels.
