I have had Bessy to the car audio shop so many times to finish the led conversion in the instrument cluster and they just can't seem to get the area over the speedo lighting even. The area from 30 - 70 mph is dim by comparison. Apparently ford used a much smaller bulb in this area than the rest of the cluster. Does anyone know what bulb is used for this one?
Super Bright LED's has so many different bulbs but without the correct bulb number I'm lost..
The thread you refer to is a different cluster than mine. His is a later model of which I do not know the year. Mine is a 2001 and Ford changes things almost yearly as we all know. Most of the wedge bulbs, I think there are 5 are T-10 size if I'm not mistaken which equates to some number again I can't find. I am guessing the one small bulb used for illumination at the upper portion of the speedometer is a T-5 but I cannot tell for sure. Super bright led's should have the right bulb, I just need to know the correct number.
Bought two of each. I have a feeling the 3-smd bulb will provide better illumination. I just hope it fills in the dark spot adequately. I cannot understand why Ford used a T10 (194) bulb in 5 locations and the top part of the speedo used a T5 (74) bulb.
Is this strange configuration just on the 2001? What about he 2000 or 2002 - 2005? Maybe Ford got smart. I'm sure others have had this issue. Can anyone tell me what they used? I'm spending too much time and money on such seemingly simple thing.
