Cruse control
Hi all - I have a 1986 F150 XLT Lariat 4 spd 302 EFI,
Recent rebuilt the transmission and Tcase. Cruse control always worked fine but at times it surges somewhat. No surging with CC off. Obligatory picture attached.
Any ideas why the truck would surge using CC?

On these early trucks they still relied on a speed sensor in the speedometer cable for the cruise. You can see it in this link on page 136 Speed Control - ???Gary's Garagemahal
So if your speedo cable has problems or needs lubing, it can cause problems with the cruise also.

My cruise control will “hunt” back and forth and I think it’s the plug. When it does this I’ll pull over, pop the hood, and wiggle the electrical plug around and it’ll be good for a while. I’ve tried cleaning the plug with contact cleaner and it seems to help but then after a while it’ll act up again.
