Got a 1995 f150 4.9 4x4 manual trans swapped. I changed the wiring harness over to factory Manual harness(pcm, power distribution box, headlight, and powertrain harness). I've had 213 in my auto pcm, and 213 manual pcm. I've checked and my spout is definitely not open. I replaced my air pump because it broke and cracked, and still have 311 as well. I'm not sure if my distributed is bad, or my icm. I've had two different ICMs with the same 213 code. I checked my engine and injector harness and everything is good. KOEO 111 KOEO MEM 111 KOER 213, 311 is what I get. Im stuck what do I
test further?
Do you have any symptoms? If not, you can also try clearing codes by using the jumper. To clear the codes allow the self test to begin then remove the jumper wire. Also assuming you know the engine needs to be at operating temp for proper KOER test. Sandy
No CEL, starts right up every time. I hear some spark knock or detonation.while floored going up steep grades. I shift it at 3700 rpm. It feels like there is a lack of power and my mpg is lower than usual. (8-9 now as opposed to 12-13). I'm taking it to Ford dealership today for the recall cruise deactivation switch. Maybe I'll ask if they have a breakout box to diagnose it. Im wondering if its my distributer but I dont know how to test.
I've also tried resetting the codes several times. While I was doing the harness my pcm was unplugged for at least 2 hours so I know it had to reset by then.
So I cleared memory codes on my scanner, cleared stored codes, ran self test and unplugged spoutduring test, unplugged battery for 5 min, checked base timing, (Which was at 9°, set to 10°). I could see that my timing was steady with spout unplugged and when I plugged it in while running, the rpm would increase slightly for a second. On my scan tool which can read DCL live, I could see on my tool timing was alternating with spout unplugged but with my timing light it was steady. My timing was alternating the same on my scan tool with or without spout plugged in, while my timing light was showing different readings. Reran KOER and still have 213, 311.
When you remove the spout the PCM is out of the loop. The 10* you set it at is your proper BASE TIMING. When you plug the spout back in the PCM takes over and adjust itself for your truck and its condition. The pcm will take some running for it to totally reset itself. Perhaps Randy can shed some light on the codes. His knowledge is far superior to mine.
