Burned UVCH Connectors and Questions

Long sordid story but my truck is out of service for the first time. Had it for several years now without a problem. I discovered at least one burned UVCH connection and I went ahead and ordered Super Duty gaskets, pigtails and UVCH's from Riffraff. Of course I'm thinking that since I'm going to be in there I needed to add glow plugs to the order since they are 220,000 mile originals.

To take the "since I'm going to be in there" syndrome one step further I think I'm going to order rebuilt injectors since they are original also.

To keep going with the "since I'm in there" should I replace the injector cups too? No sign of any fuel in the coolant. I've never replaced injector cups before and there's always the chance I'll screw up and end up with a problem where none existed. How do the cups fail? Is it corrosion or cracking or just leaks past old deteriorated sealant?

Appreciate any opinions or experience on replacing injector cups that aren't leaking (yet?).
Thanks.

I'm from the "if it's not broken don't fix" time. I'd say since you are not having any problems with the cups, leave them alone. There are hundreds of trucks with more miles on them still running the original cups. Good call on the glow plugs, as the melting probably came from a failing plug drawing more amps.

I would change them out and use 620 locktite so you can camhange into ELC and wont have to worry about keeping up wiith SCA and regular coolant changes, some ELC's have a life of 8-10 years.

No, don't do cups. No need.

since you are doing UVCH and GPs, get a armature kit and maybe injector o ring kit

Also do a intake leak test, good time to seal plenums if you need to.

or go nuts and do new fuel pump, bowl rebuild, new diesel rubber lines, IPR o rings, EBP tube clean and anything else you wish to do

Thanks to all who replied. Sorry I disappeared, been busy with numerous other follies and I was feeling like one of those guys who pop up and ask questions, then never return or report back on how things turned out. My original plan was to order rebuilt injectors this morning so I'd have them ASAP. Interesting how I went decades without this truck and now that I've had it for a few years I don't even want to go a week without it. I may just do the harnesses and glow plugs and save the injectors for later. Probably pass on the injector sleeves but I wish someone made stainless steel ones that would fit. I'd be more inclined to change them if I could go to stainless. Adam, thanks for the comment about being able to use ELC coolant with the right cup sealant. Something more to think about.

I'm probably going to start a thread based on this post. I want to get my 200K mile truck ready for the next 200K trouble-free miles. Please watch for that thread.

Good idea about an intake leak test. Already got efuel so no need for a bowl rebuild and other related stuff. About an armature kit and o-rings, I’m thinking that if I decide to mess with the injectors at all I’ll just bite the bullet and buy rebuilt injectors. I’m thinking that if I have everything ready I should be able to get it done in one day, even if I decide to go ahead and do the cups. Too bad this didn’t happen in the winter. Hate to burn up a beautiful spring day working on a truck.
