Hi everyone, I have an 86 Bronco with a 78' 460/C6/NP205. My cousin is giving me an 88' EFI 460 and I am going to swap the injection stuff onto my short block. My 86 came with a carb'ed 351W, so I will need to get a new fuel system, and I have 2 questions:
1: Can I put the EFI Pump/sending unit into my carbed tank (I have the big capacity tank in the rear, which I assume is normal)
2: if not has anyone ever retrofitted side tanks from an EFI pick-up in to a Bronco?
I wonder where you could find room enough for that long frame-rail-mounted tank under a Bronco. Lets us know if you figure out how.
I would imagine that as long as the mounting hole in the tank for the sender and pump (which I believe is one and the same) is the same as the tanks that have the fuel injection, you should be fine with the retrofit. I can't speak with any authority on this one though, so keep an eye on the thread perhaps someone has done this or at least tried.
Your fuel tank will not work. You will need to get a tank from a fuel injected Bronco. The electric fuel pump that goes in the tank requires a much larger hole than a carbed tank will have for just a sending unit and pickup tube. Hope your swap goes well! :-)
