Another Alternator Not Charging

1990 F350 460 4x4

I have read through quite a few threads on this and can't seem to find what I'm having problems with. I'll try and keep it basic .

1. Battery was dead charged battery started truck no out put from Alternator(cking with a clamp on charging system/load tester)

2. Alternator was very hot as compared to engine temp

3. Replaced Alt with reman(battery fully charged) no output still tester just showing battery voltage ( 12.5+/- ) Also replaced B-B-S plug as required by reman company. One question here, if I switched the 2 B wires(they are the same color code) would that have an ill effect. I'm 99% sure I did not, I cut them different links so I would not mix them up.

4. I deemed the reman bad out of box, upgraded to a new. Installed, same results. But then as I was reving engine to see if I had some high rpm output I caught something out of the corner of my eye, a few small sparks shoot out from alternator area I checked for fan interference seems ok, but I touched the alternator and it was hot(hotter than the engine) like the one in the beginning.

So thats where I'm at. I have power thru the fuse link to solinoid. All connections seem in good shape. New alt came with new regulator. The original alt used to spike off and on towards discharge when under a load at night and I replaced with a Motorcraft but I was never real happy with its operation either(its the one I took off that started this) it lasted only 6-7 months.

OK I'll stop, sorry to be a long winded Newbie but I wanted to get all the info on the table.

Thanks in advance for your help

azkc,
it does not matter which black and orange wire you hook up to the other, one goes to the starter solenoid, the other to the interior of the vehicle.

when you say "sparks shooting out from alternator" do you mean sparks like from grinding metal or is it arcing?

Well the more I messed with it the sparks went away and the voltage started creeping up to around 14 but under a load its dropping to just over 12. My theory is the belt is so dry and hard and the pulley was a new one that the sparks were happening when the belt was slipping on the pulley(they were more of a grinding metal spark and just a few every so often at high rpm) and as the belt got hotter from slipping it would start to grab and the voltage would start coming up. So I'm going to put some belts on it and see what that does. Sounds strange but who knows?
