Make sure the PCV valve is operating. With the engine running, pull the PCV valve out of the valve cover and put your finger over it. You should have lots of suction on your finger from the valve. This evacuates the interior of the engine. If it's not working find out why, it could be clogged.
If it is working, then your engine has a serious blow-by problem. What I have done in this case is to look at the other valve cover, you should have a hose that goes up to the aircleaner. Different engines did it differently, but sometimes the hose port is made into the oil cap. However it's setup, you should have the PCV valve sucking from one valve cover, and a port were air goes in on the other valve cover. On the one opposite the PCV valve, I take that fresh air port and hook a long piece of hose to it, and run it down along the frame down low beside the engine. Then I get a old coffee can and tie it up down there and let this hose puke into the coffee can. This should relieve any pressure inside the engine till you get it rebuilt, or it will not run anymore because of plug fouling. Make sure to keep oil in it also.

Good suggestion, Franklin2! This is what pre-PCV valve draft tubes did. Just the other day, The Frenchtown Flyer was discussing a similar topic and referred back to when he taught class at a Technical School. He had photos of highways back in the '50's and '60's... all traffic lanes had a dark streak down the middle, from oil dripping from the draft tubes.
