Direct replacments] - BBK, FMS, Flowtech. Drop in swaps. Not much gains but better than manifolds. The more you pay the better the quality.
Long tubes] - Hooker and Hedman, pretty much everything custom from the collectors back. Most power lowend and topend. I have Hookers as do a few other members.
Others] - BBK or FMS Mustang shorties clear the frame fine, bolt up to the heads fine, but will not bolt up to the stock y-pipe. It is cheaper to buy used Mustang headers and have a y-pipe made than to get the $400 direct replacements of high quality.
I used a set of Bassani I purchased over the net from www.proficientpreformance.com they were direct replacements for Fords 302 manifolds. They come in two styles powder(HTC) coated or chromed. cost about 349.00 or so. made alot of diff on my truck she breaths easier now.

A good High Temp Coating is best. I'd just get non coated headers and send them to JetHot. Most of the HTC on BBK's and such tends to blue up pretty fast.
Equal lengths make a tad more upper RPM power than unequal lenghts. I'd opt for the equal's it the price is very close but would not spend more than $25 for a set of equals over unequals.
Bassani's are nice products but for $350 for direct replacments...I can get used BBK unequals for ~$150 used and have a high flow y-pipe made for well under $200. The Mustang BBK's with the custom y-pipe will make more power and cost less...
