428 head casting numbers

I am looking for a set of 428 heads and think that I have found some but am not sure. I have c7e5 and c8ae they are out af a couple of T-Birds and need the heads to complete a build. If these arent 428 # can some one help with a few # that are or would be 428 heads. Any help would be appreciated.

There wasn't a unique head for the 428, they just used the 390 head. Which 390 head they used depends on the year.

Well ok, I'll go with it. Is there anything else after the C8AE like a letter, maybe on the other side of the spark plug hole? Or does it look like something was covered up right after the E?

I've never heard of a C7E5, is that number in the same place as the other head? Could you check the number again?

While you’re looking, here’s a little more info. The Ford Car Service Specifications says the ’66 352, 390, 410 and 428 heads were 73.1 – 76.1cc. Here’s a pic of a C6 head, note the “D” shape and the sharp corners on the flat side.

The ’67 390, 410 and 428 heads were 71.2 – 74.2cc. Here’s a pic of the C7 head, note it still has a “D” shape but shallower and the corners are rounded on the flat side.

The ’68 390 and 428 heads were 67.1 – 70.1cc. Here’s a pic of the C8 head, note the new kidney bean shape and the flat side is at an angle.

C7E5 is interesting, it doesn't match the alphanumeric sequence. FT's usually have something like C7TE.

Anyway about the 428's, When I first started taking an interest in FE's all the '68 428's I saw had C8AE-A heads. Then I started to see C8AE-H heads too but thought maybe they're from a valve job. That was dismissed when I found a virgin 428PI with H heads and have later read about them on a FE board. Speaking of boards, I also have read on a Galaxie board that C8AE heads were 428's too and were a little smaller, good for 1/2 point. Don't know if the A head was as tight, this is all stuff I have read so I don't really like spreading it around like gospel. Maybe you could pull those heads and let us know, they can't be all that bad.
