Hello to everyone, my name is Nick and I'm new to this forum. I've always been partial to ford trucks as they were the work horse of the farm (excluding tractors), and never seen much problems with them. So, that being said, of course I've been looking for a f series trick. Well, I finally found one and I bought it!
It's a White 2004 F-250 XL regular cab 4x4 FX4 5.4 L Triton 2v engine w/241,000 miles. I'll try to post a photo, but it has 6 speed manual, vinyl bench seat, manual locks and Windows along with a headache rack. Manual lockout hubs and 8 ply tires. No cracks in the interior, the seat was recently reapolsterd prior to purchase, tire are in very good shape, no rust or body damage other than typical minor 14 year old truck blemishes and has a clean title. Transmisson and motor (even at 241,000 miles seem to operate quite well. The book on her was $7,300 or so including mileage, and I got her for $4,600 with the tool boxes(which I plan to sell). Any how, I know I didn' steal the truck by any means, but it seemed like a pretty good deal. Your thoughts?
I haul in about 10 chords of green wood a year locally, sometimes in combination with a 5x7 trailer with rails capable of hauling 1/2 chord plus or minus along with a 1/2 chord or better payload at the same time. Also i haul off scrap metal and appliances. I know that a 1/2 ton would've done the job ok, but I'm a bigger heavier guy myself, and wanted plenty of truck. I figured what with what I use a truck for and possibly more from time to time could test the rated limits of a 1/2 ton, but where as a 3/4 ton would just keep on strutting thru the job at hand. This truck reminds me of the nineties when I grew up, when a pickup truck was meant to be a work truck and just that. No offensive to folks with fully loaded trucks, lariat, king reches and platinum, as I too one day would like to have one.
Should make you an excellent work truck. The 2v has less issues than the 3v.
At first, I was disappointed once I found out it was a 2v and not a 3v. However, I'm sure y'll know more about these trucks than I do, so that being said, that makes me happy to know that about the 2v having less problems.
