Remote start worth it?

I've ran a pyro from the very beginning and over 20 years there has been very few times where the turbo has not cooled down with normal driving. By the time you exist the freeway via the ramp or pull into the parking space at walmart the temp has cooled down. That said it would be better to have a pyro installed than to idle your truck every time for no reason.
As to the OPs question, a remote start is awesome unless you live where it is 68 degrees and sunny every day.

I've never had remote start on anything either but since I was ordering my truck it was a cheap add-on and the one "frilly" thing I added. I use it more than I thought I would. As others have already said, great when it's cold outside (mine heats up fine ) and great when it's hot as well.

I didnt have one till i bought my most recent truck. someone had installed an aftermarket one that doubled as an alarm. I actually love it.. especially on my diesel since it gets it warmed up a little before i hop into it.. cabs not always warmed up but the windows are usually on their way to being defrosted.

When do things go from a luxury to necessary for modern life? Electricity, air conditioning, and the internet for examples.....

I didn't order my truck with remote start, I added the phone app version after the fact for $200 from eBay parts. Its $50 a year for the remote app version and its a lot more functional for me. You can start/stop your truck from anywhere in the world, unlock and lock the doors and you get text/email messages whenever the alarm is set off, it will even tell you which sensor was tripped.
