I bought two hub assemblies for a new to me 99 F250 7.3. Both hubs in the truck are bad especially the passenger side(making noise). I’ve already replaced the lockers so this was the next step. I order them and got them in and there’s some differences but they both have the same part numbers. Is there a big concern between with the 3mm difference?
Im assuming your truck is a srw truck correct? Is there a part number on both the parts? Looks to me maybe the manufacturer milled down the left one too much and installed different brand studs? Unless one is for a drw truck and the other is for a srw truck. There is a difference in some of them, some are before 3/10/99 and others are from 3/20/99 or somewhere close in the date. Depending on your build date if its 03/99 then it could be a few different options. Id try to get the one thinner one swapped. If both of yours on there now are the thicker one and as long as the threads are the same than thats what id put back on it. May also be wrong part right box
Everything has the same part numbers and the studs are the same. It’s for a srw superduty I was just concerned about safety of the smaller hub. Manufactur date is 5/99.

Reason: Forgot info
My ocd would have to get it swapped with one that matched the other lol, i would be more comfortable with the hubs that are close to your current. That .1 mm difference between the new thicker one and your old one is only .003 or 3 thousandths of an inch, that is virtually nothing and could be measuring a couple thousandths diference due to rust on your old ones
Both of the hubs have that part number on there. I was wondering/worried about the thickness between the two hubs. I’ve replaced them before etc etc but never had two different thicknesses.

Thats what i was thinking, maybe wrong part got stamped with the right part number or was put in wrong box? Hell it could of been machined that way. Ive seen new brake drums that one had the channel in the back side where the edge of the backing plate is and the other that was machined out completely and was missing the second lip to make the channel.
Curiosity killed the cat and I decided to use the hub with the 3mm difference. Everything went together great until I tightened the lugnuts. After they were tightened the tire wouldn’t rotate, I removed said tire and placed a spacer and tightened a couple lugnuts down and found out the 3mm difference allowed the rotor to come in contact with the caliper housing. I then changed out for the 13mm thick housing and everything worked great. I appreciate everyone’s help.
When the time comes for new rotors keep this in mind too. There are rotors for early and late 99 with a height difference of..... 3mm. (different diameter too.) 3/21/99 looks to be the cutoff for early 99 models
