Expedition

I have a 98 Eddie bauer and coming home from work I noticed all the 4x4 lights and the low washer fluid light kept coming on and off. After the truck sat for a couple hours the battery was dead. I jumped it and the same problem happened. Only now the airbag light stays on, the speedometer quit working and the transmission isnt shifting right

Is the battery defective or is the charging system not charging it?
