I'm not sure if I'm going.
1. It has not been very Spring like for Spring Carlisle
2. I have had a pain in my heel the last 3 weeks. All the walking woul not be good for it.
3. If I go it will be Saturday. Get the things I need and leave. No aimlessly walking up and down every row.
It never fails that all the people go the years i have to work and few go when I do go.
I am going friday because im buying a seat delivered on that day.
I wish I had the time I would go. And it would be nice to get away from the garbage weather we are getting in NY. That is if PA is any better... if you see anything good post some pics?
I hooked up with pweng1 at Hershey the year before last. 4 of us had dinner together. Always good to meet others on the forum. I do not do Carlisle, I did many years ago. Happy hunting guys!
Thanks Joe. What did you buy? I want a left door latch, I need the rubber headliner holder and wipers. I want to pick a 55 F700 I drive by. Years ago I bought the radio from the old man. I am hoping he or his son will sell me some more parts. Will report back with pics.
All I really needed was tail lights for the f-4.......that was it....I should have it together as soon as I can open my garage door and not freeze to death...probably 1 week to get totally driveable ....then round up some Amish to help me get the flat bed stake body back on....
As Jafo56 said It was cold and very busy today. It was great meeting and talking with him. I got some tail lights a bench seat and a grill.
I found out today this may be my last year of walking it because about 2 hours in i was nursing swollen knees and legs. I forgot to take any advil this morning. As mch as i try to deny it old age is just around the corner.
So I went to Carlisle today. I stopped at the house with the 55 F700 in the front yard. I had his number and had tried calling him the last two weeks. No answer. I thought maybe he died. I knocked on the door. No one answered the door. Thanks to the White Pages and Map Quest I found that his son lived nearby. Went there and spoke to him and his wife. The wife did most of the talking. Father is 90 and living with his daughter. She gave me the number where I can reach him. No answer so I head to Carlisle. As I near Carlisle my phone rings. It's the old man. I tell him that I'm the guy that bought the radio from him 18 years ago. He said I can buy the whole truck, but he won't sell parts. When I bought the radio off him 18 years ago he said he is going to fix it up.
On the way home I stopped at the daughter in laws house to tell her that he called me and wouldn't sell. She appears fed up with the mess. Her house doesn't look much different in terms of old vehicles and junk sitting around. Like father, like son. She said the township wants the old man to clean up his property. She said they'll have a fight on their hands. So I said before they scrap it please call me and I'll buy good parts off it. Some exchanged numbers.
Some pics to follow.
Abe...I got the stainless round type that belong on that year....I have them on my 51 there great
Staying stock! That's good.
I bought a pair of wipers and blades, drivers door latch, headliner rubber, all from Mid West Early Ford. I bought an NOS condenser and points since guys say the new china crap is .... well, crap. Carpenter was not selling anything, just handing out catalogs. My heel was hurting so I left by 1:15. I did t even go up on the hill or by the turnpike.
