Don't forget, there's a NOS left side on ebay.

When you speak with Green, ask them to look on the D2D (Dealer to Dealer - Ford dealer parts locator system).

I recently lost my ability to access it, as the parts guy that gave me the link & password retired.

I still have the link, but the former dealer he was at, changed the password.

I'll give Green a call and see if they can find any. And do you know if they used the same mirrors in 87-91? So I can expand my search if they can't locate any.

Is this the one you were referring too? I only ask because there isn't a lot of info in the posting. https://www.ebay.com/itm/SIDE-VIEW-DOOR-MIRROR-FITS-FORD-F150-PICKUP-1306859-80-96-NEW-AM-ASSY-LEFT/292519129565?epid=1224586135&hash=item441b7fb1dd:i :292519129565

Type: F0TZ-17696-B into ebay search
Ford changed the mirrors and the part numbers. Before production date 6/1990 used different mirrors/part numbers than from production date 6/1990.

The 1990 and earlier mirrors are different than the later style.
The upper mounting bracket on them are inversed compared to the 1990-1997 models

Look at the mounting screws.
1990 and up have the mounting screws UNDER the upper mount (and the mirror sits a little higher on the door)
1990 and earlier have the mounting screws above the upper mount.

Maybe someone should consider being a guinea pig and either paint or powder coat the mounting brackets, assuming you can do so without needing to disassemble the hinge.

Grote seems to make a decent aftermarket mirror, but nothing that resemble the type 9 mirror.

One must really watch what you are buying nowadays.
Lots of these sellers are very creative in not disclosing pertinent facts in an obvious fashion.

Come to think of it I have seen them with the screws over the mounting bracket, I just wasn't sure exactly what year they were for. So anything from 90-97 will work then.

I did consider trying to painting mine until the passenger side mirror got bent . I could still try painting the other one black just to see how it goes, but honestly I don't really want black mirrors for that truck.

Is re-chroming your mirrors an option you would consider exploring?

I ask because I was thinking of do it over here.

I honestly hadn't even thought of that, but it's not a bad idea. I know there is nobody in my area that does anything like that, so I'd have to ship them to someone that does it.
I have no idea what that would cost, but I would think it would be pricey.

That would be great! I'm going to search through my local yards when I get a chance, hopefully I can find something nearby. If not, I will definitely let you know.

I was thinking just refinishing, whether chrome, paint or powder coat, just the mounting brackets.
It is the only chrome on the mirror.

The rest is stainless and aluminum.
I wouldn't want to chrome those parts, just the mounting brackets.

True, I could just paint/powder coat the mounting brackets and get a new head to replace the bent one. That may be my best option if I turn up empty at the junkyards.

Do you know if it's still possible to get just the heads? Or would they be obsolete as well?

That way I can at least fix the bent head and have the mounting brackets powder coated/painted.

These "aero" type mirror heads were introduced in the early 1980's and were used on multiple vehicles including Aerostar, Bronco II, Ranger, Econoline, F100/350 & Bronco.

This is just the mirror head, obviously the brackets for all these mirrors are different. In 1985, a convex glass R/H aero mirror head was introduced.
