You have a 226cid "H" series six. The serial number is on the passenger side top of the frame just behind the motor mount. It is stamped very lightly, so use caution, no heavy abrasives or coarse power wire brushes, cleaning the top of the frame to look for it. Ford did not stamp serial numbers on the engine after about 1931.

Does that apply only to trucks? I've had (2) late 40's car engines with serial numbers, and another from the early 40's - but still not sure if it's a car or truck engine. - Bob
