How to program ‘93 F150 without ECU

Question How to program ‘93 F150 without ECU

1993 F150 XLT, 4x4 (shifter), Reg Cab, Short bed, automatic

-I looked for ECU behind emergency brake...not there.
-found ECC under hood driver side.

Can i I install ECU if it doesn’t have one?
*Can I program my truck through the ECC?
**if so, what programmer is recommended?

If the truck doesn't have an ECU the engine won't run, and yes on a '93 it would be accessed from inside the engine bay but these ECUs are not programmable.

You lost me when you changed from an ECU to ECC. I think we are all on the same page, but what would you define as the difference?

What are you trying to accomplish with programming? The best and only method of programming on a Ford EECIV ECU is through the J3 port and it's a pretty steep learning curve. Have a look at the Moates site.

The overall goal is to increase mpg the best I can and to calibrate the different features I have put on the truck. Fix the timing, factor in the new suspension, shoes, and eventually other performance parts.

The computer (PCM) has no interaction or control with the items in bold above. It controls the engine and if you have a computer controlled transmission (E4OD) that as well.

There is very little aftermarket support for this vintage of Speed Density based computer system. You would have to contact the manufacturer previously listed to see if your stock computer is supported, but highly doubtful.

In the big scheme of things you would need to most likely have to convert your truck from Speed Density to MAF with a computer supported by the aftermarket if you plan on any engine upgrades beyond a mild or heads or intake or headers. Combining more than one or two of those would with the existing computer will result in very little gains and most likely negative bang for the buck.

If you are saying "shoes" for tires & wheels, the speedometer already has programability to change tire & wheel sizes.
