I have an '87 F350 4x4 with a 6.9 diesel,3 speed trans. When cold,it takes a few minutes to engage after I put it in gear. Is this a sign that the torque converter is on its way out? Thanks for any ideas.

Thanks for the help-now I know what to expect for when I pull the trans.BTW, I've been told its a c3. I thought it would be a c6,never heard of a c3. Thanks again.
Doh.....I suppose mines a c6 then. Its got 17 bolts on the pan with a notch out of one corner.I thought a c3 was maybe a bizarre metric version of the c6. Thanks for clearing that up,rclarke.
