Hi this is my first post so bear with me please. I have a 2002 ford F250SD witha 5.4 litre V-8. I would like to put a locker in the front axle but there are a couple of optional axles it could be, ive heard dana 60s have either a 30 or a 35 spline axle, and someone told me i have a dana 50 in the front. The rear axle has it stamped on the housing and theres a tag on the plate identifying it as a posi unit requiring special oil , but the front only has one tag with numbers and letters on it, does anyone know if that tag will tell me what i have.

If you look on the lower right hand corner just next to the cover it will tell you what size Dana it is. If you have a seven digit number on the tag that starts with a 6 & looks like 604199 1
it will tell you everything you need to know. Post the number or go to www2.dana.com/expert & follow the links to light axle & parts list.

Thanks Andy, heres the numbers, 511159-1, i guess that means i have a dana 50 instead of a dana 60, there is also a gear ratio number 3:73 and im guessing a ford number 72034FA. I really appreciate the fast response.
