Modified or from Ford?

The other day I was filling my F350 with diesel when I noticed a small amount dripping onto the ground under the truck. When I got home, I got on the creeper and took a look under the truck. On the filler tube, just as it begins to cross the frame on its way from the filler to the tank, there is what looks to be a small inlet with a piece of hose coming off of it that goes nowhere (and is open). The end of the hose is jagged so I doubt it's a factory cut. So, is this added on for some unknown reason or was something cut off? Any ideas? It's a 2017 Lariat diesel dually that I just picked up used.

That’s not from ford. Looks like some lazy a&& removed an auxiliary in box fuel tank that had some sort of gravity feed or fuel pump to fill the fuel tank. They just cut the fuel line with a knife and didn’t even bother to plug the hole. It’s hard to see but it looks like there is a hole in the bottom of the bed where the fuel line used to go. Did you buy it from a dealer or private party?

Good eye. Yes, I guess that would explain the 3/4" hole in the front corner of the bed.

I would get that hose plugged asap! It’s open for dirt water or whatever else to get in the tank. I you bought it from a dealer I would bring it right back and ask how they missed that in an inspection!

It was a trade taken in at an Audi dealer. I traded off a 16 F350 for the towing increase. The truck actually has three holes in the front lower corners of the box. Two on the filler side and one on the passenger. Any ideas what else I might want to look for? It's gonna have to go back to a ford dealer real soon for some warranty work (looks like the rear transfer case seal might be leaking. The entire underside of the truck and transfer case in that area is oil soaked). I don't like surprises, especially on something that cost nearly as much new as my first two houses put together!

1 of each of those holes may have been to bolt down the transfer tank.

What Xwild said, some of the holes would be for holding the tank down.

Yep, ghetto in bed fuel tank installed by a neck. Remove that garbage and go back to OEM.
