Hey guys. I few years back I replaced my fuel tank with a new F1b. It did not come with a new pickup or vent/rollover valve grommet. The grommet is way mushy and needs replacement but I cannot find one. Secondly I recently replaced the pickup and found it to fit badly, being angled wrong and therefore hitting the bottom of the tank. I bent the tube a little to make it fit. Are the pickups different for F1a and F1b tanks?
The original grommet part number is D4AZ-9B076-A although it may have a superseding part number . There are several NOS pieces on E-Bay but they're a bit pricey.
LMC also shows them Truck Parts and Truck Accessories a lot cheaper ($4.95).
The tank grommet must be a standard size as we used both the grommet and rollover valve from a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis from our donor car in a F1D tank.
When I replaced my tank in my '77 with a new F1B tank, I realized that the grommet was bad late on a Saturday evening. I did not want to wait to complete the job and was able to match it up with a Dorman 42344 PCV valve grommet for a Chrysler. It was $2.99 from O'reilly's and in stock.
