Transmission issues
Transmission issues
I am not sure if it is common in this year of truck. My 2005 F150 STX rwd has had numerous trans problems originally went out at 50k again at 63k and at 70k. I know just reached 71k and I feel as if the 1st and 2nd gears are acting weird in it. I am so tired of the repairs for this truck. I have bought it new and have spent a large sum of money on it, not counting transmission works. Almost want to trade it in for a Nissan with a 100k warranty. Has anyone else have transmission problems like this with this truck?
I have the 5.4 auto...had it since new, and not even a hint of issue....this tranny has actually been around (the e-version) since the late 90's....same tranny in my wife's 1997 cougar sport (bought new & still have it)....not even a hint of issue. I service the tranny every 30k miles, lock out 4th gear when driving 40 mph or less (as the oe states). Typically when a tranny fails at 10k miles, there is a problem with either the tech's skills or substandard parts or not all of the necessary parts were replaced. One of the more common issues is the trans depending on your previous warranty, may have been replaced with a junkyard/recycled unit...... not unusual now-a-days for dealers, shops, etc.
With regards to Nissan, I use to race those (scca) back in he late 70's......a lot has changed on those.......QA, well, when Fiat was looking to buy another car company (pre-Chrysler/dodge), Nissan was one of the 1st they looked at...in summary, after they looked under the hood (so to speak) they ran, not walked away......... the tranny's are built by a company called Aisen.... some drivers are very lucky with these trannys, others, well, not known for their durability and Nissan (like other foreign companies) have lots of very specific "outs" for not paying for warranty claims....... my niece when through this a few years ago when Hyundai was financially struggling..... the auto tranny was acting up starting at about 6 months old (vehicle)....at the 18 month old mark, it was undrivable....... despite a lot of dealer documentation, Hyundai only offered a software update....which of course didn't work, all on a leased vehicle too...... she ended up being part of a class action IIRR to get resolution.
