Nice looking excursion, would love to see more pics. I think you got yourself a pretty good deal. There's always minor things to work out on a used vehicle so I'd not fret to much over the door chime thing.
Thanks EXSwap! That looks like exactly what i need! I'm definitely diving into this information this week, we had a nice thurderstorm come through last night and I had the same issues this morning when i went out to my truck at 0530 went to unlock the door with the key fob and nothing happened....no lights came on, the door locks didn't go up....and i almost went into a panic. I unlocked the door manually with the key, opened the door and the door chime was dinging (truck key is still in my hand) and the radio had power (luckily i turned the radio off last night just in case). I noticed there was a little water on the driver side kick panel underneath the fuse panel so i'm assuming my leak is somewhere in that area.
So i said a little prayer, stuck the key in and turned it to RUN position and everything came on as it is supposed to, turned the key to start and it fired up strong....such a relief! So luckily i was able to still make it to work, i had the floor heat on the entire way to work, and when i got to work and cut the truck off, everything turned off as it should - no door chime, no power to the radio, i guess it had dried out on my way to work so that's good.
Congrats on your new sweetheart! Thats a beautiful gem you got there. Just think, you have a new love affair that can last a lifetime!!
My "Bessie" has been with me since 2007 with 75K on her. Now she has 221K. I can't believe I actually considered selling her a couple years ago and I'm so glad I didn't. An Excursion or any Super Duty with a 7.3 in good condition is a keeper. Good ones are becoming harder to find as they are either keepers or "long in the tooth" ready for retirement. I would suggest keeping customizing to a minimum.
Yeah thats what i thought.....might have found my leak lol. I saw a post where the guy replaced the seal with some from McMaster Carr so i'm going to be looking into that today.

Thanks Rainmaker!!! Yeah I've always wanted a 7.3L Excursion and never thought I'd get one (like you said, theyre hard to find in good condition and when you do, they want your first born for it!) and then i found this deal and had to hop on it! Yeah customization is going to be kept to a minimum, its already got the TS chip, full exhaust, and intake plus the lift and tires and that's about all i wanted to do to it! Only other thing i might do is install a back up camera, could really come in handy for this tank!!
The pinch welds on these Fords (and other makes) are known for rusting out at the top and the sides. I would not rule them out until you have had the glass out.
