I also agree as mine has become random when it does it.

I did the Sync 3 update from the Ford website and my radio doesn't always stay on the last source and it is extremely frustrating. I have kind of noticed that if the truck sits overnight, it will turn back on to Sirius (which is all I listen to) but if I am running errands the truck is only shut off for 15-30 minutes it defaults back to FM when I restart it. I have also been extremely frustrated that I can't use voice control while in reverse and I have to wait until I am traveling forwards and the rearview camera is off the screen before I can get rid of the AM static. Grrrr.

I too updated to 3.0 and it was a big mistake. I’m traveling and my set radio station at home is a Spanish station here. It is extremely annoying to start the truck and get a Spanish station that I have never listened to. I hope the Ford guy that said it is designed to work this way is wrong! I’ll go back to the earlier version and take Ford off my next car list if this is the case. I also get the annoying reminder that I can update my firmware over Wi-Fi! Why would I need to see this each time I start the car? To think I updated just to get the “new” Waze and it is nowhere to be seen!

Take a deep breath and calm down.

Typical software bugs that will be worked out soon.

Its not a bug if Ford is calling it a feature as some are reporting.

I was talking about the WiFi/Scan for Updates message that you said was coming up on your screen. Many people have reported this and Ford has acknowledged that it`s a bug that they are trying to fix.

As far as Waze goes, they said it would be available in April so everyone will have to wait and see if they can have it out before April is over. I hope i`m wrong but I wouldn`t be surprised if Waze does not become available until mid to late 2018.

My 2017 F250 is doing the exact thing and I hate it!! I noticed right after I did the update to 3.0 and after talking to support and trouble shooting by key cycling and doing a master reset I was informed by the tech that it is a known issue and that I should just wait till the next update, which might come along as soon as May. Keeping my fingers crossed its fixed, as well as the ability to cycle through only Sirius presets on the steering wheel without changing sources!

Has anyone figured out how to correct this? My 2017 now does this every time I start the truck and sometimes just randomly while I’m driving. Sometimes it starts on the USB and switches to the radio after a second or two but it always defaults to radio. I’m beyond frustrated with this. 2017 F350 with Nav and factory sync. Not 3.0.

I did the Ford update and now have the FM start up instead of XM or Ipod. I stopped the wifi scan by disabling updates and did a complete rest (both hard and software) but I'm still stuck with the default to radio. As far as I can see, this didn't update anything and I can find a way to roll this back. Any help?

I've been living with this for six months since doing the unofficial 3.0 update. I've learned to turn off the audio before turning off the engine. If I forget I turn the key to the ignition position, wait for Sirius to come on, then proceed to the engine crank/start position of the key. It's all a PITA and I wish Ford would fix it.

One other way I found to avoid the switching to FM, is with remote start. For whatever reason, that worked for me every time. Weird.

Solved the roll back question. On a 150 forum is a thread named "HOWTODowngrade Sync3 v3.0 back to Ford Official v2.2 (build 17011)" . On post #54 is a downloadable zip for version 2.2 which will overwrite version 3.0 without code. THIS FOR FOR THE NAV VERSION ONLY.
So, downgraded Sync to version 2.2 and turned off the auto-update wifi function. Audio now defaults to whatever source was last used and works with XM, USB, and phone without problems. Not sure what, if anything I'm missing by not having an updated Sync but with Ford's lack of response to this problem across numerous platforms (Mustang, F150, f250), I'm good.

Just a data point: For my 2018 F-250 (Sync 3.0) it starts up w/whatever I set it too before shutting down. I've used FM, Sirius and Ipod and it's always started up in the last mode.
I did purchase the truck late April 2018 and it already had Sync 3.0 installed.

I'm on 2.2 and still have the radio default EVERY time I start the truck.
