Help please

I have a 97 f350 7.3, dome light and odometer quit at the same time, truck is shifting hard and I have to feather the accelerator to get it to shift. Was told possibly the solenoid pack in the transmission, or the brain box. Thanks in advance.

Your in the wrong forum but how does the trans fluid look, how many miles and have you serviced the trans lately. How many miles on the rig?

Dome light and Odometer are unrelated to each other and everything as a whole.

319,000 miles, fluid looks good and doesn't smell burnt. Transmission was serviced about a year ago.

You say the odometer quit, meaning there are no digits displayed, or the mileage numbers do not increase? If no digits are displayed, check fuse #18 in the in cabin fuse panel.

yes, the odometer quit, no mileage showing and the speedometer quit as well. I checked all the fuses when it first happened, none of them were bad.

Did you checked the fuses with a volmeter or just with your eyes?

No, you should use an OHMmeter. Or continuity tester.

To have a friend like that or be a friend like that = priceless

PS I should put the first time: A multimeter or a multitester, also known as a VOM (volt-ohm-milliammeter)

Don't worry...English is my first language and I still call it a voltmeter at times. We all know what you're talking about so you're good.

Most people call wheels, rims, which is incorrect too, but most people understand and accept it.
