heater hose question and my 66 project

Because everyone is so helpful in answering my questions, i thought i should put up a picture of where i am at right now.

Also, need to know if the heater hoses are connected properly?

And the hose with the masking tape gets the valve, right?.

Thanks. There will be more questions.

You are good with the valve on the taped hose,, and it doesn't matter at the heater end, you can flow either way into the heater, you will never notice a difference.

For practical purposes, it makes absolutely no difference. Technically, I'm not sure which way is "factory correct" as I've seen every possible way many times over.
This is how mine is, same as when I bought the truck.

Cable operated heater water valve position: This is what my '65 F100 looked like when I bought it...new.

This heater water valve (C3UZ-18495-A / Motorcraft YG-133 - available from Ford) is only used with the deluxe fresh air heater, as it's controlled by a cable.

The deluxe heater has two cables mounted under the dash on a bracket.

The economy fresh air heater uses a manually operated heater water shut-off valve (C5TZ-18495-A / Motorcraft YG-130 - available NOS).

Both valves are spliced into the inlet to heater core heater hose.

ND: I haven't seen that PCV fitting before. What's up with that?

Chad: Is that a factory flat-ish paint underhood?

That crappy old alkyd enamel can chalk up some to where it loses some of its sheen. Look along the top edge of the passengers side inner fender and that last foot or so - you can see the reflection of the cowl. So, some of it is still fairly shiny.

Here's a factory underhood shot of a 1962 4x4 truck. Hard to tell from a picture of a black and white picture, but the black is about as glossy as the black enamel would get. There is some dust on the surfaces, too.

It's not original, probably from a 1980's whatever.

1965/66 352 just had the smog valve nipple poking out of the rubber grommet in the cover.

The problem is, the grommet isn't reproduced, so what someone probably did was use a different grommet along with a newer smog valve with that extension on it.

I zoomed in on the picture that I posted in #6 and the PCV valve has a definite hex shape to the exposed portion, much like this.
