heater hose question and my 66 project
Because everyone is so helpful in answering my questions, i thought i should put up a picture of where i am at right now.
Also, need to know if the heater hoses are connected properly?
And the hose with the masking tape gets the valve, right?.
Thanks. There will be more questions.

This heater water valve (C3UZ-18495-A / Motorcraft YG-133 - available from Ford) is only used with the deluxe fresh air heater, as it's controlled by a cable.
The deluxe heater has two cables mounted under the dash on a bracket.
The economy fresh air heater uses a manually operated heater water shut-off valve (C5TZ-18495-A / Motorcraft YG-130 - available NOS).
Both valves are spliced into the inlet to heater core heater hose.

That crappy old alkyd enamel can chalk up some to where it loses some of its sheen. Look along the top edge of the passengers side inner fender and that last foot or so - you can see the reflection of the cowl. So, some of it is still fairly shiny.
Here's a factory underhood shot of a 1962 4x4 truck. Hard to tell from a picture of a black and white picture, but the black is about as glossy as the black enamel would get. There is some dust on the surfaces, too.

It's not original, probably from a 1980's whatever.
1965/66 352 just had the smog valve nipple poking out of the rubber grommet in the cover.
The problem is, the grommet isn't reproduced, so what someone probably did was use a different grommet along with a newer smog valve with that extension on it.
