I'm in the middle of swapping power brakes, power steering, and 390 from a 73. As I'm swapping most parts I was hoping to swap the pedal assembly also as I'm going from a manual to an automatic transmission also. Turns out while the pedal assembly matches up with the firewall but it doesn't match up where it bolts up under the dash. See them side by side. Anyway want to trade me a pedal assembly? :-) Right now I have taken the original one apart and found the shaft that is attached to the clutch pedal looks to be 5/8 so I'm going to try bolt first or I'm just have to make one on the lathe.
Open to other ideas.
Much easier to just remove the clutch pedal from the original bracket...less modification. You can use a bolt, or the cross shaft from the newer pedal bracket, which I believe, is the same size.
Ended just using a 5/8 bolt, now the next problems are the attachment point of the steering column itself, in the 73 is sets up higher in the dash than the 65. Picked up some longer bolts from the hardware store but will probably make some spacers sleeves too. Then there is the issue the power steering cooler return line the front cross member in the 65 is wider and doesn't allow the line go into the same position as in the 73, just seems like one step forward two steps backwards :-)
