Tranny options

So the trans gave out in my 04. Has anyone had experience with monster transmission or have any suggestions? I do feel like a bts or john wood is overkill for our v10 trucks. Any suggestions appreciated .

I’ve been on this forum for years and I’ve never seen anyone talk about aftermarket transmissions.
The stock ones are great. That’s probably why you haven’t had a reply.

I agree, but I still need a replacement just trying to find out what the best ones are.

I think I understand where you’re coming from. When something needs replacement on my van I always seek an upgraded part.
Transmission...? Nah. The ford originals are excellent.

Which one one do you have? The 5r110? Nothing better than that. It’s rated for 550lbft of Torque. Good to go.
Occasional failures: sure.
Mine has 334,000 miles on it and I beat the daylights out of it on a regular basis.
I had a sensor go bad causing it to not use the top two gears intermittently , and later on it developed a hard shift into Reverse and Drive. Likely a bad solenoid. Two electrical problems - can’t much blame the transmission for that.

I use my gas pedal (v10 van) like a teenager on a regular basis.

A 2004 V10 will be a 4R100 transmission.

I've talked at length with Bob Riley at Diesesite. He knows how to build a good trans, and he dyno tests his before releasing them.

Actually, the rating is after the torque converter multiplication and is rated at 1100, hence the 110 in 5R110W.

I really don't know. The only differences would be the case and the torque converter.

Has no one else really run into replacing a 4r100 behind a v10?

And I'm50, I hesitate about a ford reman because I've heard horror stories about being put back together with used parts. Sometimes people specialize for a reason.

Do you think the specialists replace EVERYTHING in the transmission? Or do they reuse the used parts?

That's a fair point, I guess a person always takes their chances with whatever they choose, so the ford reman is the consensus here?

They have, but it hasn't been talked about much here. Usually, people find a good local transmission place and just get it done there. Local place, warranty, no biggee.

Thing is, the really BUILT trannies are for the diesel guys who put loads of ft/lbs through them. The V10, not so much
