Hey I was wondering what transmission I have I can get more pictures tomorrow but the cover throws me off it is a rectangle. The transmission is a three speed without OD and is a sideloader. Has the numbers 16 AF-7006-d on the case and a upside down B with I think it says 85 next to it. I'm thinking it is a t85 or a shaginaw? I'm trying to indentify so I can find gears and I am having a big problem with finding parts.

1948/52 F1; 1953/62 F100/250; 1949/62 Ford/Merc Passenger Cars: Ford 3 speed manual transmission with non syncromesh 1st gear.
T-85 = Borg Warner 3 speed manual non syncro 1st gear with overdrive .. not installed in F100's until 1965, used thru 1971. No such trans as a Shaginaw (Saginaw).
DOH Thanks ND fixed the orginal.post, slip of the finger The 255 not one one Fords better ideas, ranks right up there with the 3.8L V6 in the F Series. But try to find a 3.8L powered F100 now, they are as scarce as hens teeth.

But try to find a 3.8L powered F100 now, they are as scarce as hens teeth. For a very good reason, the 3.8L V6 was a turd.
As anemic as the 255 was, the 3.8L V6 was worse. Parts and service guys called it the "miracle" engine.
If the valve cover gaskets didn't begin to leak before 20,000 miles, if the timing cover didn't rot out before 30,000 miles, if the head gaskets didn't blow before 40,000 miles, it was a miracle!
3.8L's also installed in...among other things: Thunderbird/Cougar; LTD/Marquis (Fox body mid sized); FWD Taurus/Sable and Continental Sedans.
What's a "Ford 259 model?" I've never heard of or seen any such thing and I've been looking up Ford parts in catalogs since 1962.
Bill, it is a BW259. FORD used it 1955-62 in both PASS CAR and LT.
I have been trying to find info on fifties 3S Manual Trans and came across this post. It may have been answered since the original post, but this is what it is.
This photo shows a BW259 as compared to a T85 -
Basically -
BW-259 - LD
BW- T86 - MD (Toploader)
BW-T-85 (Car) and BW T-89 (LT) - HD
All came thru STD or OD
FORD did not reference it as BW Bill. All descriptions were FORD LD. The BW T-85/89 was an HD trans, w or w/o OD. The BW259 pictured above (take-out) must be a LT version due to yoke style..
Look at the side cover on the below Ill -
I don't have a TRUCK MPC beyond 1956 so I can't run with the BIG BOYS ...
