I have a fuel smell in the cab of my 94 when I come to a stop. I know diagnosing this online is difficult but I can not find it. I have NO leaking fuel. I have been all over the fuel lines and under the hood and can see nothing leaking. I have no codes. I have replaced the O2 sensor and the two fuel caps. I see no leaking injector. No smoke from tailpipe. Truck runs great. Anyone have any ideas where I can look for this issue? Thanks Sandy
I just got checking things around the canister and purge solenoid area and finally noticed there is no purge solenoid. The line has been run directly from the canister to the throttle body. I know why I missed seeing it now, it wasn't there. I would surely think that is my cause but I am going to borrow the 95 solenoid and run it.
Some of these motors didn't have a purge solenoid so you won't be helping matters if you install one and there is no electrical connection for it.
Does your truck have dual tanks? If so do they both work? And even if they don't you could have the very common fuel transfer problem where the active tank pushes fuel into the other and overflows it out the filler tube and vapor canister system. Looks for evidence of raw fuel running down the outside of the tank filler tubes and for the presence of raw fuel in the vapor canister where there should not be any.

Just checked and the electrical connection for the 94 purge solenoid was neatly tucked away under the intake. From other things I have seen the PO was trying everything possible to get better mileage. It even had an oil separator he paid good money for that was advertised as a fuel saving device. So, I think some mechanic sold him on this too. I will hook up the 95 solenoid and see if it helps the 94 and let you know. Thanks for the reply. Sandy
