2008 Torque steer sensor
My wife has a 2008 escape that she had the steering wheel start to shake one day and about a week later the power steering went out.I looked it up and found a recall but it wasn't for her escape.So I bought the sensor from ford and installed it myself cause they quoted me $1750 to do it.I did it for $200.But now the car still doesn't have power steering and ford says it needs to be reprogrammed through IDS.
Does that sound right to you guys?

Disconnect the battery and let the thing re-boot from scratch. I understand the system disables the assist if it detects a failure, and leaves it disabled to avoid having the condition of power steering ON and then OFF, and back to ON. It would be disconcerting to drive in that condition.
