5 Questions...

Greetings,

I'm in the process of changing my transmission fluid, adding a pan drain plug, a temperature gauge...and a FactoryTech valve body.

I'm hoping that the experts here can answer a few questions.

This is on a 2000 Expedition 4.6L 4R70W 4x4.

I've drained the fluid from my transmission by 1> disconnecting the coolant return line and pumping the tranny pan dry, 2> removing the torque converter drain plug, 3> dropping the pan. After I remove and replace the valve body, how much fluid will remain in the nooks and crannies of the transmission? How can I get rid of it so that it does not contaminate my new fluid?

I'm planning on blowing out the cooler supply line by applying compressed air to the output side of the cooler. I may actually just blow through the temporary drain tube with my mouth. Will this actually work, and does this carry any risk to the transmission? How does Mercon V taste?

I noticed a "LINE" port, within easy reach, on the left side of the transmission housing. Is this a preferable temp sensor location to the tranny pan?

Thanks again!

5 Questions...

I would think that there would be very little fluid left after all that.
