Tow haul down shift slam

Tow haul down shift slam
I noticed in tow haul pulling a 3000 lb load upon decelleration exiting highway and braking the transmission slams when down shifting from 3rd to 2nd. This is a f350 with 6.2 gas and 6speed auto. Any ideas?

That is what they do when in Tow Haul. It is highly annoying, & possible dangerous under certain conditions (slippery roads). I have found that the more you use tow haul, the less brutal the downshift becomes. I suspect the transmission & computer have some sort of learning ability that adjusts for your driving style. I use the tow haul all the time now, empty or towing 9999 pounds. I like how it holds the upshifts later, don't like how it bangs downshifts when slowing & braking.
