You'd have to ask his state Government, they see fit to give them reds and blues and sirens. I guess if they have to yank a car out of some water to gain access I don't know. I believe he is in Missouri. Enev his big rig wrecker has lights lights and sirens. I am in California ours, including the police garage trucks only get yellow. And they still drive that fast I had one pass me today doing atleast 80 in a 65, they all have scanners and compete to see who get to the scene first so they can get the pay. It creates dangerous situations on the road, we have had several accidents involving tow trucks heading to a call. Maybe this is their way of elevating that issue. They are sent by dispatcher.

In 4 years of driving a wrecker, I was asked by the Sherriff or State Patrol to expedite twice. Both times a vehicle was upside down in water/swamp and I was closer than heavy rescue. I was told to hook and drag to get the vehicles flipped over ASAP so we could keep people from drowning. WA state does not allow tow trucks to run code like that and don't even really like them using emergency turn around spots on freeways....
