Guide: what to look for after buying an older van
I decided to start a new thread for people who just bought an older van and want to get it in a great working condition, for people who want to know what is involved with this process, and for people who are looking at buying an older van second hand.
When I bought mine from the auction, I had to drive it about 2-3 hours so I did just the basics after a short test drive. I checked and filled all fluids, lights, brakes and acceleration. After returning I bought the service manuals. That's all my experience besides my first mess up stripping a bolt! to the thermostat and finding parts such as a rear tire mount, ladder, vent replacement, and captain chair mounts from a local junk yard for $50.
For those of you with actual experience, what would you recommend to a new van owner?
