ZF5 Exchange???

I have a ‘92 f350 idi 4x4
Extension housing is cracked, cant find one ANYWHERE... Will any s542 transmission work with my rig as long as its from a 4x4 7.3? Need to get this girl back to work!

Yes, any 4X4 ZF5 from a Diesel 87-97 will bolt right up.

Any trans from an OBS powerstroke will work

i would think either a bad u joint causing vibration or some pretty severe shock loading. My brother had a cracked bell housing, which is not uncommon

Also the ZF5 from an FSuperduty will work. Just remove the parking brake and install the transfer case. They used 4x4 trans and installed drum brakes.
