Steering Column Location

Hi Everyone, I'm working on my 57 and was installing a new steering column and was curious that the brake pedal backing support and where the steering column mount is that it seems off centre is that correct from factory? Or am I misunderstanding something?

I am not exactly sure what you asking, but the factory manufactured these trucks so that the steering column is not directly below the center of the stock speedometer. The steering column winds up about an inch to the right of center. I am sure this has something to do with where the steering box mounts to the frame. The steering shaft comes straight up through the firewall and locates the steering wheel off to the right of the center of the gauge panel. Since the clutch and brake pedals straddle the column, they are mounted to accommodate this mismatch. I am sure this is one of Ford's better ideas.
