Ive tried three times now to download this update and i must not be doing something right. I can successfully download the update to my desktop but it's the "unzipping" of the files that I'm messing up I think. I unzipped the original file but then when you open that it looks like there's 5 more zipped up files in that. Am I suppose to unzip them all too? Any way I ended up unzipping everything and then copied them on to a blank USB. When I plug the USB in my truck it recognizes it but never says "starting system update". So what am I doing wrong? I feel like a moron.
PS I am using a older Mac book for downloads.
Once you download the original zip file, unzip it to your formatted USB drive. That is all you need to do. I believe the USB must be formatted in exFat. It does take 5 minutes or so before you will see the screen say system updating.
After downloading the zip file to your desktop, unzip the file to your desktop. Once that’s done (should be three files) highlight the files and copy them to the thumb drive. Do this and post a screenshot of the thumb drive folder.

like Conrad mentioned there is there items that need copied onto your usb. I assume they are the same for everyone but the three I have are:
SyncMyRide FOLDER (which contains files in it)
autoinstall.lst
DONTINDX.MSA
One other note, If you use a thumb drive that doesn't have an activity light, you have to wait a few minutes before anything is displayed on screen. You should have three; a SyncMyRide file folder, Autoinstall.lst, and DONTINDX.MSA

Are you using the built in extractor on your Mac?
On my iMac, I downloaded another extractor app instead of relying on the built in one when I did the 2.3 update. I also had to drag each file one by one into the USB drive and they must be dragged in the order they are presented on your screen.
I`m going to wait until this weekend to do the 3.0 update and hopefully it`ll go just as smooth as my 2.3 update.
If you`d like the name of the extractor app i`m using just let me know.
It`s free in the Mac app store and it`s the best and easiest one i`ve ever used.
remove the .gz from the end and the "SyncMyRide" from those files and put them in a folder called "SyncMyRide"
are you sure about removing the .gz at the end?
I ask because all those files listed are exactly what is in my SyncMyRide folder and I did NOT remove the gz and my update worked.
*edit*
I see now...remove the syncmyride part from each attachment but keep the .gz then put all files with .gz in a folder SyncMyRide(spelt exactly like that) then copy the syncmyride folder/autoinstall file and DONTINDX file onto your usb.
Ok fellas sorry I just got home from work. These images is what I have. And yes I would like the exstracror you speak of.
Go to the app store and type in Extractor.
It should be the first app that comes up out of the many on there and it`s a dark green folder with a zipper on it. It`ll be call Extractor Unarchiver. Totally free and works like a charm.
I got it fellas. I just switched to a non apple desktop computer. It was so much easier. Unzipped one file and copied the three things to the USB and I'm sitting in my truck while it does the update. Thanks for the help and quick responses. Note to any one else struggling I'd Segway not using a Mac computer.
