Good point Tom. This is going to be an interesting project. Highly suggest the OP post photos as they go along. Please!

There will be don't worry! Gotta find a good truck to start with first and at the right price is all! Since creating this post I actually stumbled upon a good fit truck for what I want to do with it but it's already SRW crew cab long bed 2wd and in the price range that I was looking to spend on a dually and have to do all that extra work for the back half so just gotta hope it doesn't fall through or get sold before I can check it out!

If your going to build your own four link front then you wouldn' have to get and 05 front. Get an obs axle and then you get the better wheel bearings and can keep 8x6.5 pattern. Just get the factory frame spring buckets if you want

What like an obs ball joint dana 60 then grind off all the leaf perches and what not and then get a set of brackets like these to weld on? Cause if so I totally would do that if I could put the truck on jack stands for a week and knock it out but I'm more looking for a project I can start Friday and finish by Sunday as it would be my daily driver and need it back and running Monday morning. Only reason I play on building my own links is because I want to throw a little bit bigger coil in the front to lift it 2"-4" and have the adjust ability of making my own links with heim joints.

Yes, completely DUMB idea to get 2 different bolt pattern wheels.

Then come in the facts that the 05+ axles have different offset than the 04 and older ford axles.

As for the 10.25 being stronger than the 10.5, wrong

I understand wanting to do it in a weekend but the axle could be prepped and brackets welded on before you take your truck apart. Frame mounts for the links could be installed with all the factory radius arm brackets still on the truck. If it's 2wd drive truck then the frame coil buckets could be saved and all that would need to be fabricated would be the track bar mount on the frame side. This is how I see it could be done, I'm just not a fan of superduty hubs and bolt patterns

Well would the yokes and leaf/shock mounts be the same on the 05+ axles as the OBS 10.25's? Or am I going to have to get an adapter for the obs drive shaft to connect to the 05+ and grind off all the stock leaf perches/shock mounts and weld them to fit?

This is true, but if I weld those brackets to the axle without having it under the truck exactly where I need it to sit then my measurements need to be SPOT ON with everything and not sure if I want to run that risk on a daily driver. I'm sure i COULD do it and I'm fairly confident it WOULD work....but due to lack of information of anyone else doing it that way and making there own 4 link brackets/coil buckets on the ball joint dana 60 and then the risk of hacking off all the 2WD stuff besides the coil bucks and then figuring out after sliding the axle I welded up underneath the truck that I F****** up my measurement and the one bracket was welded to far over or what not...well then I'm up S*** creek without a paddle. Its the route I'll be going on my project truck because that I can jack up and not touch for weeks on end for sure but for this daily I think my safest best of success over a weekend will be the 05' axle which I already have laying around at my buddies house.

Leaf spring perches are the same

As for the driveshaft, you can get a cross joint

Looks like the shock mounts are different unfortunately but isn't a huge to do for me to make and weld up new ones. I'll probably swap the 05' Rear under but most likely going to ride around on the 10.25 still for a few weekends then do a hydro boost to it at the same time..Truck may look a little goofy for a little but just don't see it all getting done in one weekend.

Yeah no I appreciate it! The more input on trying to complete such a task like this the better! I have seen the wheel bearing issues that seam to plague these newer dana 60's and when time comes when the bearing do go on the axle I put in I'll upgrade to the dynatrak free spin kit to resolve the weak link of those axles.

Discs, matching bolt pattern, matching track width and it's stronger than the 10.25.(3 pinion vs 2)
I seriously doubt you are going to do a 4 link front suspension on the stock frame and have it driving monday morning.

The unit bearing on the 05+ SD 60's substantiality stronger than the 99-04 and arguably better than hub/bearing set up found on OBS axles.
Honestly you sound like you don't know what you are talking about and don't know where you are going with this or how to get there...

i agree. the hub bearing assembly is a better setup.
my 02 now has 196,000 miles on it and the front bearing assemblies are still the ones ford put in when they built the truck.
my 88 D-60 never got more than about 125,000 miles out of front wheel bearings. but that truck also always had at least 37 inch tires on it.
