Well if that doesn’t work out for you I have a 272Y as well with everything from bottom to air cleaner all original and I had the carb rebuild. I also have the 3 speed trans, bell, linkage and bottom cover.
I even have the splash shield for the gen.
Wow, that's awesome. Seems like a trade is in order! What transmission is it currently hooked up to?
So the only difference between the 272 and 292 is it's bored out larger with larger piston's? is that the same for the 312? I know the 312 wasn't offered in the '57, but hey, if it gets more power.....
The Trans is the column shift 3 speed LD Ford IIRC (I'll check pics when I get home) so I assume it was the stock trans must not be too LD for it to survive behind the 272 cause this unit was not babied. So I can for sure give ya every thing forward of the trans from top down to bottom including the forward fuel line if nothing else for a pattern. As long as the I6 is unstuck and not grenaded we can do a straight across swap. Where in Edmonton are ya ? We could even give each other a hand pulling them if you're close.
@matthewq4b and @G-Force junky, it sounds like you both have what I am looking for.
@mathhew4b, The truck is located near Southgate Mall. The last time I turned the engine over it ran just fine, but that was quite a few years ago and it needs an overhaul. There is one other thing about it. Back when I last started it, I only had to move it out of the garage for a couple days and then back in, so I decided since it had been sitting for a long time that I would change out the oil. There was antifreeze in the oil when I changed it. I'm guessing the head gasket is shot. I saw no evidence of a cracked block or head, but I never investigated it. I changed out the oil and topped up the antifreeze and started it right away and moved it out and then back in a day or two later. I haven't looked at it since. Somehow we'd have to make sure that it's just a head gasket and not a cracked block or head as you definitely wouldn't be happy with the trade if that was the case.
@G-Force junky, thanks for the offer. If this swap doesn't work out, I'll definitely let you know. I see you're from BC, so still close, but St. Albert is really close, lol.
Here is a photo of the engine compartment in the truck I'm getting from the US showing the engine mounts. Anyone see anything missing that I'll need? Besides the engine of course... no wisecracks lol.

Different Motor mounts lol, those look like they are for a SBC.. The Y block sits on the front cross member with bracket and the Bell housing sits on mounts on the frame.

Ya I'll have to double check the Y Block, oil is clean no water it runs just smokes a bit sort of like a 2 stroke lol. I'll Pressure test the Y block for integrity in the water jacket before pulling it.
Oh, that's good. So I won't need anything in addition to what I have plus what I'm hopefully going to get from you?
No you should have all the hard parts you need Stuff like accelerator linkage and stuff are thing we need to swap. You will need new rubber parts of course.
Shoot me a PM and we can move the particulars for an off line discussion.
