So I've made some comments about this excursion I'm trying to buy... Basically the deal I've got worked out is that I'll buy parts and the seller will help install them until we either get it going well or I get sick of buying parts.
anyway, a fuel pump and neutral safety switch later, we have it running, but the way we got it started was to hold the key on start and use a screwdriver to jump the solenoid on the fender. Obviously this isn't a long term solution, but it got the truck running.
Starter works, solenoid works, fuses are all good. We just have nothing when you turn the key. What should our next diagnostic step?
we also have a charging issue - the battery reads 11.6v when the engine is running, and we pulled a "keep alive power voltage too low" error code. Not sure what that means. Anyone hat this before?
Update: turns out the issue was an incomplete install of the transmission switch. The shaft part was not on all the way, and tightening the bolts to seat the switch bowed the switch enough to break contact internally. Forced the switch the rest of the way on, and started with the key just now.
special thanks to whoever posted the wiring diagram. Can't find who it was on mobile at three moment, but it really helped.
Wow, I may actually be able to be helpful for once. I had a similar issue and I replaced the whole pos battery cable thing for $120 or so. Mine was clearly eroded and bad but it fixed the issue.

The one that goes battery to starter relay and battery to starter? did that one already I'll add it to the list.
