Calling all Flathead Enthusiasts

Stopped at a local Truck Stop this morning and something in the window caught my attention. On display is a flat head. I do not know as much about these as you guys do, but it was kind of interesting to me. What is the silver unit that is mounted over the intake? My guess is a turbo charger? I asked the cashier if it was for sale. She said "NO" Had to ask though! Enjoy!

That silver thinghy is a Roots type blower/supercharger with fuel injection. A turbocharger is exhaust gas driven and usually mounted on the exhaust manifolds.

I'd love to hear it whine. I've always loved the terrific sound they make.

Definitely not something you see everyday in a truckstop. I'm surprised they don't have the spark plugs in all the holes and the distributor cap in place. Little kids with M&M's could wreak some havoc there. Did you happen to get any pictures of the other flathead in the background?

That right there is a head-gasket-blower-outer or also known as a piston-melter-holer device.

Very nice But I wonder if that stock fuel pump can provide enough fuel at WOT?

And I can't tell but is there a crank pulley present for the water pumps? Also looks like an original distributor. But it looks like it only has to run one spark plug.

Must use electric fans.

Whatever this is.... it has nice & shiny new hedbolts. Just ad 7 plugs, and a dist cap. Is the dist all way in? Otherwise, the lower dist bearing is not seated in the aluminium timing cover correctly, and the gears are not meshing..

Anyway, at least no one will fire it up by accident in its current state.

Any yes, some 40 years ago when I was five I would have felt the pressing urge to drop something down those funny holes....
