HI everyone! I wanted to introduce myself to the members. I'm an old time Limey who moved to the states many years ago, and I've had Fords of many shapes and sizes ever since. My current project is a '56 big back window truck that I'm customizing for my wife.
I've boxed the frame and welded in a TCI independent front end with power steering and a TCI 4-link which supports an 8.8" rear end from a '97 Explorer, so I have 4 wheel disc brakes. All the suspension uses air bags instead of springs & it will eventually get a RideTech control system. I'm using 15" steel rims with baby moons and whitewall tires.
The interior is based around the leather front seats and center console from a 2007 Eddie Bauer Expedition, which also supplied the 5.4 engine, 6-speed auto trans & wiring harness that I'm working on fitting to the truck. I'll use the Ron Francis system to delete the PATS and other systems I don't need.
I'll create a build thread sometime in the near future.
Is there anyone out there who has put one of these 3-valve modular engines into a 53-56 F100? I'd be interested to see any information there might be on firewall modifications. It looks as if I need to set the firewall back into the cab around 4", but I'm unsure of how wide and how high to make the cuts. Any info, pictures, etc. would be very much appreciated.
